Joboshare Apple TV Video Converter is a video conversion tool that lets you convert your video files so that you can play them on your AppleTV. As you may know, Apple's TV companion has very limited format support. If you want to stream content to it, the files need to be encoded using the H.264, MPEG-4, or M4V formats. This application supports H.264, MPEG-4, and a variety of other formats. It comes with six different conversion profiles for the AppleTV, which you can edit and save for later use. There are also profiles for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Thanks to its good format support, you will also be able to use this app to convert your files for playback on a lot other devices.
Unfortunately, Joboshare Apple TV Video Converter is lacking a few features that you would normally find in other video converters, even cheaper ones. For instance, there is no video editor. This means no video cropping, for instance. Video trimming is complicated to carry out, you have to type in the duration of the your desired video and the start time. It is way easier to simply select a start and end time using a bar in the graphical user interface, like many other converters allow you to do. The trial version of this app does not allow you to trim videos at all, so I couldn't test how well it works. The lack of a video editor also means you can't adjust brightness, contrast and saturation. The best video converters have GPU acceleration, which uses your GPU to greatly reduce the time it takes to convert video. This one doesn't. My last gripe with this utility is that it doesn't tell you how long it will take to convert a file, which leaves you guessing. This is such a basic feature that it surprises me it wasn't added.
